THE NEW MAYNE (click an image to zoom in)
The New Mayne is an advance on the original Mayne Homes that were built in the 1990s. The originals
are loved by their owners, 2 sisters, who have been completely satisfied with the design and livability of the houses.
The New Mayne (1500 ft2) was developed as a result of changes in the Building Code that disallowed ship ladders as access to
loft spaces.
The first version has an asymmetrical roof with a skylight that brings in light to the loft area as well as to the
open Kitchen/Dining/Living area on the main floor. A bridge connects the two sleeping areas.
With the higher roof, an option with an asymmetrical roof, there is enough headroom for a full bathroom
on the bridge at the loft level. Additional natural light comes in through windows in the sleeping area and through triangular
glazing.
A further development of this version, at 2000 ft2, has the same ground floor, but a full second
floor with flex space at the top of the stairs and between each set of two bedrooms at the four corners. The full two floors
can have five generous bedrooms as well as a den, and the flex space mentioned above.
