THE MAYNE
Two homes were built for sisters on Mayne Island; one of the first designs. A Great Room extends the
full depth of the house with an L-shaped open Kitchen/Dining area to one side, along with utilities and a bathroom. On the other
side, there are two bedrooms on the main floor.
What makes this design unique is the open Great Room ceiling extending to 18 feet, allowing lofts on
either side. This provides additional double sleeping areas or could be used as a childrens' play area, computer/library
space or whatever suits your needs.
Not including the spacious decks, the living area is approximately 1250 ft2. One of the Mayne Island designs has a work room and storage below
since the steep slop permitted a second floor below the main floor. Access is onto the main floor.
The idea of taking advantage of a steep slope was taken further in our 6-module design, The Hemlock, where
the lower floor has a second bathroom, two generous bedrooms, and a covered deck with a spa.
The alternative roof, shown in a woodland setting, has additional height permitting
larger usable floor area in the lofts. A stair leads from the main floor to one loft, and a bridge connects the two. At approximately 1600 ft2
this design has a second bathroom on the loft level. See also the New Mayne design.
