COMMUNITY HOUSING (click an image to zoom in)
Our Community Housing serves both singles and families. The buildings are small in scale,
none higher than two storeys, and can promote intergenerational mixing. For example, there can be both three bedroom and one bedroom units
in the same building so that newly fledged younger people and/or respected elders can live in their own private home, but under the same roof.
This type of housing can also be less costly since the expensive insulated exterior walls that
require minimalized thermal bridging are, proportionately, a much smaller component of the whole building. Also, using the same roof
and foundations for housing more than one family unit, leads to costing efficiencies.
Seniors units are developed following the rules of Independent Living, but providing enough
circulation area for wheelchair turning circles and easily accessible bathing facilities.
We take your Lane Home all the way from the preliminary design stage to turnkey
stage - ready to move in. We look after getting permits (additional cost) and reviewing the factory construction and on-site
work. We start from a site plan, so that the new lane home is totally integrated and enhances the property. The dimensions are
500ft2 for one bedroom, one bathroom homes for a 33ft lot with one parking space. Some designs have a small den or
office included. We also have up to 750ft2 designs with two bedrooms and two parking places for 50 foot and larger
lots. Prices range from about $150,000 to $200,000 depending on the design.
Homes are in sync with the environment, family and community lifestyles. As with single
family residences, each building is sited to provide pleasant, functional and efficient forms and spaces. Well-being is enhanced
with natural light, and with views both inside and out.
